Hey all - I was thinking that it would be cool to have one of our meetings at the Newport aquarium. In addition to the main aquarium, they offer a "Behind the Scenes Tour" that I think we would all be interested in attending. I don't know if we have done this before, so I called them to get info. I was hoping since we were a reef club, it might be free. It's not, but it is discounted. Here are the costs:
Behind The Scenes Tour (45 min) - $180 fixed fee for up to 15 people (over 13 years old). This is $12/person. They can do two back to back tours if our group is larger.
Aquarium - $16/person (or $19/person if we want "good any day" tickets). Price assumes everyone is over 13 years old.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Total = $28/person
Reservations are needed of course, and payment is due in advance. They recommend we go in the afternoon as the mornings are always busier. They also recommend we request a tour guide with more detailed knowledge since I suspect a few of us may have "a few" technical questions. It's more expensive than BW3s, but that depends on how many beers you are drinking
. Just thought I would bring it up to see how many people might be interested.
