Newbie with a Nano!
« on: January 11, 2012, 00:42:47 »
Hello Everybody, new to the forums and am completely new to the hobby of keeping an aquarium. I've always been fascinated by marine life ever since I was a kid and always wanted an aquarium but alas, It never happened. About a year ago I visited the pet store as usual to drop the dog off to be groomed and found myself migrating towards the fish and aquarium section of the store. I thought “wow, aren’t these guys so peaceful and enjoyable to watch.” That night I went home, jumped online and a few minutes later I was convinced, I want my own piece of the ocean!

Over the last year I have been researching as much as I can, getting my hands on as much information as possible. So far I have decided for the time being I will be setting up a nano tank and just focus on the basics, no coral just yet. I want to do this right the first time and have found out real quick that this hobby can get quite expensive! So I have acquired a BioCube 29g, Eheim Jager filter, sand, test kit, thermometer. Eventually I'm going to get a journal thread going on here so I can document my progress for myself as well as all of you guys! Anyways I'm really excited to get this started and am looking forward to learning as much as possible from everyone!

Howdy do, Scott!

Kudos on doing the reading before jumping right in. You can find the answer to pert near any question you might have (saltwater related and other wise) here in the forums. If it isn't there, just feel free to ask.

Most of us like you were inspired by a pet shop marine tank. It is fun and addictive like other hobbys. We have a lot of good people here to enjoy it with. Welcome
