I have heard that you can clean your filter socks with alittle bleach and water?  is that true?  anyway have a true way of cleaning them?  i have 4 that i have in a rotation but my cleaning method, just hot water and twisting the water out is not getting them clean enough.

or is it one of those things you just buy more of?

Little bleach in the wash and run the socks twice in the washing machine. Once with just bleach and water and once with just water. Let dry and you are set.

Yep, do it all the time.  The only thing to add are to turn them inside out first.  I also soak them in RO/DI water after cleaning but have not read that you need to.

that sounds like a plan.  if she bans you from ever using it again.... that means not only can you never wash your filter socks anymore.. but you can no longer help out with the laundry because your are banned.

great idea.  I'll start a load now..  ;D

I flip mine inside out, rinse off as much as I can in the sink (the big stuff - snails - mysis - etc) run them threw the washing machine with hot bleach water and then run them a second time threw the wash with dechlorinater to help brake down the residual bleach.
