Foam Rock Wall
« on: November 07, 2008, 20:25:38 »
So I'm thinking tomorrow is the day to start foaming a rock wall for the 90 gallon aquarium. I might even post some pictures depending on how it turns out, or you may just get to see pictures of mike(slandis3) covered in black pond foam lol. ::)
If you didn't know I'm kind of a big deal...

You relying on the foam to hold the rock or you do something else?  I'm starting a similar project tomorrow and want to know if you screwed anything up

This is not done yet but it is started, I made three sections for easy removal I have done one section so far and I still plan on putting epoxy over the rock and foam and putting sand on top of that to make everything look similair, but its a start. Comments are welcome as long as they are not from Andy or Joe  ;D

have not got that far yet was thinking about using regular old fiberglass resin dont see why that wouldnt work... but I have read on other threads of some two part epoxy from hobby stores so I may go check that out and see price wise what works for me

DONT USE RESIN FROM YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE. Its not the same as epoxy. That stuff is not water proof. There can be a nasty release of chemicals if it is not 100% cured. There was a thread on rc a while back a guy used that and lost his entire tank because it leached something into the tank. There is a place in centerville called woodcrafters ( I think) they have a 2 part epoxy that will work.
