First time FragSwapper users - Tutorial
« on: June 28, 2009, 10:45:03 »
Some help for first time users.

Note:  Fragswapper is for buyers and sellers to make prearranged transactions prior to the swap. You do not have to participate in fragswapper to buy/sell/trade at the Ohio Reef Club’s Frag Swap on July 25th, 2009 June 19, 2010

Part One is about getting registered with fragswapper.

Part Two is looking at and requesting the listed frags being traded or sold

Part Three is listing your own frags for trade or sale

Part One:

1. Go to www.fragswapper.com

2. Mouse click the red "LOGIN" button

3. Choose the "Register Now" button

4. Read and Accept the User Agreement

5. Create a User Name and Password.  Use an email that you will continue to use for a long time.  It has been hard in the past to change email addresses on Fragswapper at a later date.

6. Optional - Register with an organization.  To register with Ohio Reef once you are registered and logged in, click the blue "Organizations" button at the top of your "HOME" page.  Click OHIO from the list on the left side of available regions.  Scroll down the next page to the Ohio Reef banner and click it.  Click on the "Register with this organization" button in the top left of the screen.  You are now registered with our Club!

7. If you registered with Ohio Reef, click on the "Ohio Reef Club's Frag Swap" from the Ohio Reef Organization page.  If you did not register with Ohio Reef, click the blue "Welcome" button at the top of the screen

8. Choose the "Ohio Reef Club's Frag Swap" from the list of Current Active Swaps at the left of the screen. Click on the yellow "Click here to Register" in the top left of the screen.  You do not have to register with an organization, but you do have to register for the event to buy/sell/trade items on fragswapper!  Fill in the number of Adults and Children attending and register.  You are now registered with our Frag Swap!

Part Two - Buying

Fragswapper is for serious buyers and sellers.  Please do not request items that you have no intention of buying or list items you have no intention of selling.  Do not cancel a request because another listing is lower for a similar frag without contacting the original seller through email to see if they will match the lower price.  Remember, you usually get what you pay for so a lower price may not be the better deal.

1. Starting at www.fragswapper.com click the red "Login" button.  Enter your User Name and Password.  This takes you to your Home Page.

2. Click the "Ohio Reef Club's Frag Swap" under your Active Registed Swaps.  This takes you to the Event page.

3. At the Event page, select the green "Listings" button at the top center/right of the page.

4. Select "All Trades" from the Trade Lists in the upper left corner of the screen.

5. Scroll through the pages viewing the eye candy you wish to buy or trade.  When you see something you must have, click the dark blue "Request this Item" button at the bottom of that listing.  It will show your User Name on the wait list for that item on the listing.

Availability Note: Many times a seller will come up with additional frags even if the availability is 0 or -2 for that listing.  If you want the item, request it anyway.  You may get it.

Requesting Note:  Requesting an item does not mean that the transaction is complete.  The seller has to approve the request before this becomes an official agreement.

6. Once you have requested the item, the seller has to approve the request.  You are notified through email when that happens and your name will disappear off of the “Waiting List”.

7.Show up at the frag swap on June 19 to complete the transaction with the seller.  All buyers and sellers should be wearing a nametag at the swap to facilitate finding each other.

Part Three - Selling

1. Login and select the Ohio Reef Club's Frag Swap from the Active Registered Swaps

2. Click on the green "My Listings" button.

3. Click the "List New Item" from the Listing Menu in the top left corner of the screen.

4. Type in a title and description of what you are trading or selling

5. Type in a price or trade only, and total available items.

6. To add a picture, cut and paste the direct link script into one of the boxes in the Photo area.  Check mark the direct link box and click test to make sure your photo displays.  I use Photobucket to host all of my fragswapper pictures.  The direct link script is the second script down under your photo.  I believe that if you use the IMG script your pictures show as a box that you then have to click on.  They do not show up as a picture under your listing.

7. Click Save.

8. Go to Listings, then select All(New First) under the Trade Lists.  Check your listing for errors.  If you have one, go back to My Listings and select the dark blue edit button on the right of that listing.  Make your changes and Save again.

9. When someone requests an item from you, go to My Listings.  Their user name will show up under the Wait List for that item.  Click on the arrow to move them to the Promised area.  You have completed the agreement and they are notified that you have approved their request.

10.  Show up on July 25th to the frag swap and make yourself very noticeable.  Keep an eye out for your buyers.

Nice post, Scott. Every year, at least a few buyers who request pre-ordered frags from me never show up for the swap. I know this happens to other sellers as well. If something comes up or you change your mind, whether it is the buyer or seller, it would be nice to give a little advance notice on fragswapper to the other party.
