Tank Rebuild

On July 5, 2007, I came home from work to discover that my tank had developed a leak in the lower right front corner. This leak resulted in me having to do a complete tear-down of my system. Of course all of this happened right before a VERY busy time for me at work so I was able to devote very little time to rebuilding.

My rock and corals went into Rubbermaid containers and my fish and anemones went to a friend's house for safekeeping until I could get a chance to rebuild.

Since setting up, I had always regretted not getting a tank with an internal overflow. I did not let that mistake happen again. I used this opportunity to upgrade to a Mega-Flow tank. I considered getting a larger tank, but decided to stay with a 75g tank as I have been very pleased with that size.

I set the tank back up, plumbed it temporarily and placed all my sand and rock back into the tank and let it sit while we went on vacation. After returning from vacation, I plumbed the tank the way I wanted it and then re-did my rockwork. I then retrieved my fish and anemones and put them back in.

So far, everything seems to be doing well. I do have some algae growing, but the tangs are doing a good job of picking that off.

Below is a picture of the tank and sump set-up before the leak.
